RegmagiK Tip of the day

Translator notes

Comments in this thread should help translators to avoid common pitfalls while translating resources for RegmagiK. For example:

ampersand before letter: &File means keyboard accelerator.

1. when possible use the first capital letter. If this letter is taken in the same menu group or in the same dialog, try to
be creative. If not sure do not use &. They are optional.

For example "i" in A&ide is selected. It reminds me of 'Information'. May be it would be better to use 'Information' instead of 'Aide'?

2. Ctrl + should not be translated in any menu. Same for Shift + Ctrl +

RegmagiK Registry Editor problems

REGEDIT Bookmarks do not work in RegmagiK on some systems. This problem was reported by two users and is my highest priority to fix. If you have details about this or any other problem with RegmagiK please, PYCHOSMAE (post your comments here, or send me an email)

I have changed many things on the web site and created new setup and created french version - all done recently and needs testing - so if some things don't work - please, be patient

RegmagiK is going Global

Several RegmagiK reviews are available in languages other than English. I know of French, Chineese, Japaneese, and Russian versions. If you know of translations of RegmagiK or information about RegmagiK, please, post it here or send me a link or directions how to find it.

Letter to AMUG President

I found your site by searching Google for RegMagic. It looks like you included it on one of your member CDs (March 2004).

I do not have a problem with that as far as copyright issues. I even want to thank you for promoting my product. But I'd like to know when someone publish anything about RegmagiK (current name of RegMagic, changed due to conflict with regmagic.h).

Also, since you do not have any links to my site, I'd like you to inform your members that since March 2004 there has been several new releases with new functionality and bug fixes.

This may not be a big deal, since I have not heard from anyone who got Regmagic from AVMUG CD, but still it is important to me.

Slideshow timeout tweak

I did finally get the answer I was looking for. instructions for editing the Registry to change the timing on the Fax and Picture Viewer slideshows:
1. Open your favorite Registry Editor and navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \Current Version \Explorer \ShellImageView
2. Create or edit DWORD value "Timeout" (without the quotation marks).
In the Value data field enter 500 for a 1/2 second duration, 1000 for a 1 second duration, etc.
3. Re-open windows explorer window if it was open for this change to take effect.

HKDD support on Windows ME

At this time HKEY_DYN_DATA (HKDD) is not supported in RegmagiK. The main reason is that HKDD is not common across different versions of Windows and I just did not have any requests to add it. If you really have a reason to use RegmagiK for HKDD hive - let me know and I will add it to RegmagiK.
